Default Hi-Beam headlight burnt out?

Today before work I did my pre-ride checks and my hi-beam headlight was not coming on? The blue light on dash lit up, but not at headlight. I had earlier washed bike. I gave it time to dry since I rode 30 miles to work today.

3 weeks ago I installed new handlebars, and noticed the main bulb itself was loose inside? Twisted it a bit to tighten and when all was back together it worked. I have washed bike numerous times since today when the problem started.

I was wondering if: A - The headlight needs replaced. B - Could it be a fuse. Or C - let it dry out more. It sucks that I'm at work and can't look at service manual. Anyone with same problem in past? My bike is 1 year old with 16,000 miles. I don't use hi-beam that often. Thanks.

It's probably just burnt out. New bulbs aren't that expensive. Replace the bulb. If that's not it, worst case, you'll have a spare.

It shouldn't have anything to do with washing. The bike is designed to operate in the rain. Water from a hose will not hurt your bike.

If you ride around with the high beam on during the day, this would be very common to have happen.

I agree with EdwardK replace the bulb. You can get them at almost any car parts store for under $20

Just another reason to run to Sears to purchase a continuity tester. ("Honey, I'll be right back...promise!")

Thanks guys for the input. Tomorrow I'll buy a new bulb at the dealer.

Dealer? Get it at the autoparts store as sortasuave said. It will save you a few bucks and probably closer to the house.

Take the old one out and take it with you. They can easily match it.
