Clutch Adjustment?
I just picked up my bike for its 1k at the dealer. They definitely did more than an oil change. Before I took the bike in the clutch would engage nearly right off the grip with the lever pulled in, which didnt seem right. Now the clutch releases right off the fully out position, so I only have to pull it in like 1/2" (or so it feels) and the clutch is released. This doesnt feel right either.
So is this correct or should I take the bike back and have them redo it?

If you ride in traffic, you want the clutch to engage closer to the grip. Mine is right off the grip. I use a nickel for a measurement when adjusting how much slack out of the perch for the cable.

engagement point adjustment is all in the cable. slide the rubber boot up the cable and collapse the adjuster to get the engagement closer to the grip.

When I adjust it "up" the clutch lever doesnt fully spring back to the fully "open" position. There seems to be 1/4" + of free play, should this be a concern?

yes that will be a side effect of going to far with shortening it, you may also find that you cant fully disengage it either with that much slack. try finding a happy medium or as dawg suggested a nickels thickness of slack at the cable shoulder/perch interface.
