ummmmm, I'm a form follows function kinda guy so I'd say a total waste of chrome. Although they may help in the rain keeping the rotor dry. 
But in the end, it's your ride. hang a dead cat on it if it gives ya a chub.

I was thinking the samething. I work with a guy that has them on his Gold Wing with the lights. It looks funny.
