hey all. im looking at a 95 FXDWG. always had softail and swingarm style bikes more for touring. now hav a electraglide that i could trade for this fxdwg. mine comfy and has lots of storage. i like to ride in comfort ( lots of miles) how would the fxdwg stack up against the electraglide for longride comfort. one reason for the trade is the fx has a 120 merch. lots of jam. please give me your opinions good or bad.
? Why would you go from a Touring bike to a non-touring bike?
If it were me, I would not do the deal 'just' for the items you mentioned. I ride a lot too (6217 miles in the last 12 weeks) and would not consider losing my comfortable ride. I'd rather do the research and make my *glide what I want (which is what I did!).
Well the title of your thread is opinions wanted, so...
What are you nuts??? Honestly though, I bought an ultra specifically because I wasn't comfortable on a non touring bike for long rides. I would think you will be very unhappy with this trade if long distance comfort truly is your goal.
thanx for setting me straight. not sure why i was cosidering it. im sitting in a chair right now and am sore from sitting. im sure it would be a mistake.
They call them Touring bikes for a reason. They're made for the long rides. Dynas are cool, but don't compare in comfort to the Touring bikes. Keep the Electra Glide if that's the kind of ridin' you do.

Any scoot can be made comfortable...I know folks that put more miles on their sportys than some folks put on thier tourer's.
I just sold my 03 Dyna wide Glide and bought a 99 road glide, I rode the Dyna everyday until the wife decided she wanted to go eat one night on the bike. 6 miles to town and she was done on the Badlander seat. Found the RG and once I rode it I wondered why I ever got the Dyna, The R/G has 95 inch, gear drive cams, forged pistons and 52 mm throttle body. All the power one needs and good fuel mileage.. Plus the wife is comfortable.... priceless...The R/G still has the look that says its bad and does not look like your grandpaws bike...
