I just got back from an Ohio to California trip (4613 miles) on my MCC reworked SG seat. First day out was the longest at 610 miles. The rest of the days were 460-550 miles. I was comfortable all the way there and back. My seat was lowered one inch and narrowed about and inch on each side, with the memory foam. I have a Mustang solo that I will be parting with very soon. I highly recommend Mean City.
I had mine done and it was a waste of money. I took a new seat and sent it to them to have the memory foam put in front and back. After 1,000 miles I couldn't take it any more. It felt like a wet sock stuck up your crack that kept getting weged tighter every mile. I called and talked about sending it back for rework, but time ran out and I moved to Puerto Rico for a while. So maybe they had a bad day when they done mine. Who knows. I just wish that dam cat would have tore up that seat rather than the stock one that I use now. It's setting in the garage in Indiana and I'm in Puerto Rico now, so I'll see if it can be salvaged when I get back. Sorry to rain on the parade. Just my experience. Good forlk to talk to, just my misfortune at that time. Dan
Dan,
Get with us when you get back in country and we'll take care of you man. I have said it before and I'll continue saying it doesn't do us or you any good to have a uncomfortable seat, we want our customers to be happy with our work because happy customers are what keeps our business going.
+1 for this forum saving me money and +2 for the memory foam. It was the best investment I've made thus far for the bike and me. Had mine done 12K ago it is feels soo good if I didn't have to put gas in the bike I wouldn't stop. I origianlly got a sundowner 5 miles later I took it of and returned it. Hands down MOD if you will.

I'd definitely get in touch with Allen and I can vouch for him wanting to get it right!
I've been trying to get that perfect seat on my 07 UC. The stock seat was real nasty to me in '07 on my nonstop return trip from Sturgis. Tailbone hurt for 2 days afterwards. So I sent the seat down to MeanCityCycles during the winter and had the double layer of memory foam put in. I was also sliding forward in the seat So they made a straighter back on it, and put me just a bit higher. Rode it for 2K miles or so and while my tailbone was fine(yea!), that butt numbing sensation appeared after 80 miles or so. Got in contact with Allen and he said send it back down so he could work on it. Got it back, he had added the gel insert, but a pressure point had materialized and I was done after 30 miles. Back down again for a little rework and installed it the weekend before my big trip out west. After riding it for 4200 miles, Im right back at the butt numbing sensation after 60 miles or so. So in Nov '08 I sent it back down as he recommended the "new" memory foam they were putting in now. I've got 3K on that mod, and the seat is on it's way back down as he takes care of my tailbone issue again. I added an adjustable backrest and Wild1 Chubby WO575's and I might be sitting up straighter now than before. Allen said there's different thicknesses for body weight, and they'll stiffen and mold the foam for me.
I really appreciate their dedication to the customer, and so does my tush!
Thanks Allen I will. I know it was bad timing on my part. Next time I'm back in Indiana, or maybe I can get the kids to ship it out so it can be reworked and we'll arange shipping here to Puerto Rico. That way I can use the reworkes seat and save the money I just got for the landlord's cat chewing up my stock seat. Again thanks, I'll be in touch. Dan
Had my seat done with the Double Memory Foam mod this past April. Went on a trip from Gray, GA to Appleton, WI a few weeks ago. The seat felt nice, but after 250 miles of riding, I started getting the "butt-burn". I had an Airhawk seat cushion and I'm glad I took it with me. Using that helped get more miles out, but the "butt-burn" would start again. Luckily, when it started to get to the point where it was unbearable, we were getting ready to stop for the night.
I can't imagine what the ride would have been like with the stock seat. Overall, I'm satisified with the mod MCC did for me.
