I have never heard of any safety problems with 2009 frame. I think it can be because they are changing engine mounts or maybe a watercooled engine. Never heard of a 2009 frame crack or something like that I think all of this are rumors, the only truth is that 2009 frame is obsolet.
all of this is Crazy, why making a new frame with all the development work just for one year?
I think that if the 2009 frame has any problem they would have stop production and make a recall, I think all is about a new engine...
BTW the famouse swingarm that holds watter is not obsolet for 2009, just the front part of the frame
You guys are a rough bunch, I remember a dude that came on here with a thread last year to talk about the 2009 exhaust that was going under the frame and he was ripped to pieces, I guess time will tell, on the frame situation.
you dont have to wait until july in order to see 2009 frame is obsolet, just go to your local dealer and ask him to take a look at parts manager program. this is not a secret like 2010 models. why dont you just do that instead of saying it is not true that 2009 frame is obsolet?
I hate to bring this up, but some dude on another forum is claiming that the 09 touring frame is "pending obselete" according to HD Net website. Changes are being made for the 2010 touring frame. Another poster says that at his dealership, 14 bikes are in the shop with stress fractures occurring in the rear pinion boss area, and new frames are addressing this problem. Yet another poster claims that any aftermarket head pipes for the 09's will not fit on the 2010's. Did anyone here hear of any such problems?
Hog wash!! All of this!
If the problem was real and so severe that ONE Dealer was already fixing 14 bikes in his shop, do you think that we might have at least heard of one such problem? AND how would anybody know that the 09 headpipes will not fit 2010s?????? Nobody even knows what is in store for 2010.
My advice, stay away (far away) from thart other HD Forum you found and visited...
HD commonly marks things "pending obsolete." It merely means most of the time that there is a running change or something even as insignificant as coming from a different supplier. My 08 clutch has been marked pending obsolete ever since I got it. The new tour pak hinges are marked pending obsolete as well. Doesn't mean the frame is going away, etc.
