My standard whip antennas on my Ultra keep getting caught between my garage door and the rear wall of the garage, anyone know where I can get shorties and if they work as well?
I went to Autozone & bought a $5 universal antenna & cut a few more inches off. It slips right down into the factory hole with the set screw. 2 other guys at work have now done the same thing & it work great.
1) get a shorter replacement at any auto parts store - around $10
2) get a hidden antenna (Dakota Digital) that installs under the fairing - $100+
3) get a pair of dykes and cut them off like I did - FREE

Did you still have the same reception after option #3?
I also bought an 8" rubber antenna for my Ultra. I have the HD relocation kit for the antenna. I also have quick docking for the back box. So, I can install and remove the back box without fooling around with the antenna. And, the reception is as good as the stock antenna -- even in the roving hills of SD, CA!
I want to find that pair of "dykes" regardless of the antenna issue.
I agree on the cut it off idea. My reception is fine.
I had it with the stock length when riding on a really windy day. The antenna was whacking me on the back of my head.
