Default Throttle by wire malfunction

I had a problem with new '08 ultra. Start the bike up and all it would do was idle regardless of throttle input. In order to clear it, I had to cycle the bike on/off a few times. Check engine light would stay on afterward. After 4 trips back to dealer and a threat to get a lawyer involved, dealer bought the bike back for what I paid in an exchange for an '09 ultra. I had to pay some extra $$$ on the trade because the '09 had a special paint job. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience that definitely didn't build any confidence in H-D nor the dealers service department. So far the '09 hasn't been plagued with that problem, but it has been troubled with a transmission leak because they didn't tighten the side cover bolts on the transmission not to mention the tank recall.

I have noticed the lack of "feedback", or that progressive resistance that springs and cables seem to provide.
It's a bit of a different feel, but I got used to it quickly. It's just as responsive as cables IMO.

Cheers.....

the throttle by wire is one of the reasons i bought my 08 streetglide. that along with the ids=isolated drive system, the brembo brakes, and the bigger 6 gallon tank. no problems at all with the throttle by wire. although when i got the stage 1 download put in, my cruise control no longer worked. a quick u-turn and back to harley, and they got the cruise control back in working order. the throttle by wire i feel is a great improvement. and if you install the factory cruise control, it's seamless. i mean, it holds the mph that you set it at. flawless, in my opinion. i've not heard of the wet issue yet, and i've ridden in storms, washed it, etc. no problems for me, yet. knock on fiberglass.
