Default dot4 brake fluid vs dot5

i'd like to know if there is a way to flush out the dot four and go back to the dot five brake fluid. when they went to the brembo calipers and master cylinders they went back to the dot 4 fluid which is harmful to paint. dot five isn't, but i'm unsure as to if you were to absolutely purge all the dot four out if you could use the dot5. wish i could find out if the brake system seals would work without compromising the system. any ideas???

In my experience with building Street Rods over the past 30 years, is that the seals will last longer with Dot 5. I'v know of one car that is 20 years old, not driven much that has the same fluid in it I put in back then and it works as good now as then. Maybe not a good example, but it has worked for me. I hear talk all the time about it not being as high a temp. rating, but what did they invent and use it for? Also, because #5 is thicker, I seem to get a less spongey pedle with it
For me, I,d dis assemble everything and get it all out or just flush the crap out of it with a vacume bleeder. They can be bought at summit or jegs or others.
