Angry "Chrome" Saddlebag Guards?

I just bought the "chrome saddlebag guard" kit for my SG. I'm reading the instructions and wait a doggone minute, I have to remove the stock chrome support rails and replace them with black painted ones from the "chrome kit"? What genius at the MoCo came up with that one??

Are you referring to the rail that the saddle bag sits on? if so they are all black from the factory.

The SG support is all one piece. Not compatible with the guards. The support itself, which is black, sits under the bag and is not really seen. No need to make it chrome if you can't even see it. That would raise the cost anyway.

1/2 an hour to 45 minutes working slowly... Piece of cake....... If the chrome ones are long enuff you could prolly cut them off and drill the attaching hole thru and yup they would work.. Lest us know if you find that works..

The stock supports on a Road Glide are chromed too. Had to replace them with the black ones when I added the trim rails. They don't show or arent meant to be seen anyway so no matter. This is not a cheap mod though.

Well if nothing else look and see if its a possibility.. Id be willing to look for a set of the bars on ebay and cut em off and drill em to have chrome ones.... I keep everything for my bike so i understand why your dad might not want to cut his.. My bike came with the wrap around double bars and i still have them and they are mint . Ive also still got my stock wheels . I lost my job and could use the cash if i ebayed the stuff but i just cant bring myself to do it ..
