I'm shopping for a used Road King...maybe an Electra Glide. I'm not sure what is too much milage. At what point do you say, "That's too many miles." or "It's going to need to be rebuilt soon."
I recently seen a '97 Road King with 14K on it. I didn't think that was bad at all. However, I seen a '01 Road King with 47K on it and it made me wonder if the miles were too high and it might be headed for a rebuild.
Any info and/or suggestions along these thoughts is appreciated. Thank you, Outdoorguy57
I would not worry about any mileage under 50K (not that taken care of it won't do three times that) but mileage should be figured into the price of the bike. If you can afford it, get an 07 or newer just for the 96" engine and 6 speed tranny.
It all depends on how well the bike was kept, was it serviced properly, was it used mostly in the city or on the highway. I have an 05 ultra with 31000 miles. 95% are highway miles and I plan on keeping it for another 50000 miles. Be thorough when shopping for a used bike.
Take your time and use all the different resources (Craigslist, ebay, Cycletrader, etc). I found my 99 almost two years ago with only 3500 miles on it and it was like brand new. Shopped for about two months to find just the right bike.
