I'm getting ready to sell my Sportster and I was thinking about getting a used Road King. How many miles is too many for a bike like that? I have seen some really good deals on Road Kings that have 30k miles on them already. I usually put about 10k per year on both my bikes, which is more than my friends but not as much as some people.
Really depends on the year and how it was maintained. To me 30k is not high mileage. I wouldn't go past an 09 year wise. Check it overr well. The underside and rear wheel are areas to check on for how well it was taken care of.

You'll find older bikes with low miles in the 'moderate to severe winter' states. Many people put them up for those months. In your 'tropical' locations, ( Florida and So. Calif.), folks ride them year round. Resulting in much higher mileage.

To me, 30k ain't squat. I just got this sweetheart cheap, it had 32k and is a stock 03. All I've done is the cam brgs, tensioners and pump, and new tires. Everything works and it had a new stereo when I got it. It even came with 5 match painted helmets and a J&S Jack my 02 wg has almost 120k and is still doing great
Depends on how well they took care of the bike. Ask for service records. I went from a sportster to road king last year and love it. Good luck in our search.
You'll love the Road King. I'm loving mine. I picked up a 2006 with 11K miles in one of those midwestern states. I kept the ironhead sportster for ripping around though. Mine already had some upgrades installed so just going to ride for a while. Hoping to get that 100K+ I keep reading about!. Hurry up spring, I'm anxious already!
I own -since brand new- a 1995 FLHR Road King with 100.000 miles.
I have changed the clutch once ( I do a lot of urban traffic)
Just recently I have done a maintenance to the engine. Scrapping the piston rings, checking of the valves and changing of the oil pump, camshaft bearing, camshaft, tappets and oil pump.
It runs like a beast and I am sure I will have a bike for another 20 years, although I am 68 years old now, my sons will keep enjoying its marvellous
riding.
With all the used low mile bikes around take your time and look at a wide area of your home. I'll bet you can find a very low mileage bike close by for a great price.
Dealerships are loaded with low mile Harley's. Fact is most don't put many miles on so buying a high mile one is not often that great a deal.
That said you have to look at the bike for what it is. One with 10K on it maybe a bad deal. Work done to it by bubba, cheapest I can get parts on it ect.
While one with 30K on it maybe well cared for and in better shape.
