I prefer the Adjuastable one. I don't change it very often, but I do change it at times.
Actually as the day goes on I need to sit more upright to save my poor back.

I have the adjustable on my RK, it makes long rides easier because you can adjust the position to keep your back from complaining. I've read plenty of posts where people don't like the fixed mount because it puts you too close to the tank. The adjustable is also removeable via a latch, leaving the mount on the bike, in case you decide to ride without it.

++ for the adjustable. Although not very often....it IS nice to change it's position for riding comfort....whether it be 'fore or back' or 'up and down'....it makes a difference. I use it both ways. It's great for 'pushing against' when rolling the bike back too!

Easily removed for cleaning, seat removal, or if ya just dont want it on. It also gives the passenger something to hang on to when shifting around on the seat.

My .02....

When I got my back rest I was going to go for the fixed, a friend was with me, he had the fixed, and talked me into the adjustable saying he would buy it from me if I decided I didn't want it, it's still on my bike, I love it.

Have had both. Have the adjustable on my Ultra now. Prefer the adjustable. Only comes off when the wife's riding with me or the bikes getting washed.
