I was wondering how to get to the handlebar bolts on my 08 road glide. I took the two screws out next to the speedo and tach, and it still wouldn't come off, what am I missing? Can anybody help me here?
The instrument pod will come apart after you remove the screws if you wiggle it. It is snapped together. Now for the bolts. You will see the top two allen bolts but the bottom bolts are covered by plastic. If you are just loosening the bolts to move the bars, you only need to get to the top bolts.
If you need to remove all 4 bolts, you will need to pull the ignition switch out.
Or . . . you can do what I did. Take a Dremel tool and trim the plastic back just enough to get the bolts out. One the pod is back together, the trimmed part will be covered by the pod.
Don't try to take the ignition switch out unless you have an idea what you're doing. Either get a manual or find someone with experience.
