Yeah I ride in weather like that. I wear the bright orange mesh jacket. I also live in the sticks of central Texas. Oh by the way I work on refrigerated trailers, outside, with diesel engines driving refrigeration compressors puting off 200+ deg. So 100+ while riding is cool. Rick
I went to Oklahoma City for the National HOG Rally on Friday and rode around all day then came back home Saturday. It was over 100° both days. I just used plenty of 30 SPF sunscreen and drank plenty of water. I have to say it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'd rather it be 100 that 15 or 20!
btw, Camelbaks are a great way to stay hydrated in hot weather. Fill it halfway with water, freeze it over night, then add cold water in the am. It'll stay cold a long time!
GREAT Idea!!!!
I don't shoulder a Camelbak, but I do strap one onto the bag behind me for that long ride.
Just finished riding to and from OKC from Houston. Hot as hell 103 degrees in the shade at 13:00 and I would like to say my oil is HD syn in all areas and I use a oil cooler and my oil never got above 220 even stuck in traffic in dallas at 12 noon.
I didnt like the Club OKC not enough vendors only about 20.
I ride everyday to work 60 miles each way, When it is over 90 like last week, I ride the back roads and stay off the 2/4 lane that I can take. The back roads are usually a little cooler(no trucks, etc)and shady is a lot of places. I leave at 1 pm for work, so ride in the heat of the day, drink lots of water before I go and take a bottle with me. Come home at midnite, so usually cooler by then. I don't wear any cooling vests, just a t shirt and jeans with a half helmet. I tried the jacket and about died when I stopped, can't imagine how guys wear leather coats and chaps when it is in the 90's.
