Default Long Offset Highway Peg Mounting Troubles

I am needing some help. I purchased a pair of long offset highway mounts off ebay. They stated they were new, but not sure! Anywaz, I am having some troubles. Where the footpeg mounts there are two 'set' screws that look like they tighten down to secure the peg from shifting around. My mounts only have one screw even though there are two screw holes. Am I missing a screw there, the reason I'm asking is that I can't get the highway pegs tight and they flip around on the mounts and it seems to me that those set screws might be there to wedge against the highway pegs. Didn't come in a box and no instructions. Anyone have these mounts or similar ones. What am I doing wrong to keep the highway pegs firm in the mounts so they don't flip around. I know there is a spacer, that I can't get to fit in there, but doesn't seem like that would keep it secure enough though with that alone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default RE: Long Offset Highway Peg Mounting Troubles

I have a set of those. 1st off, you should have a spring clip/washer that is inserted in the slot along with the male peg end which takes up the small gap and provides tension on the peg. You have to slip this spacer into the female slot at the same time that you are slipping in the male end of the peg. The flat end of the clip goes in first. It can be done. 2nd the 2 small set screw holes only have 1 set screw. This is just so that you can pick either hole to use the set screw in which is used for the positioning/adjustment of the foot peg, once the bracket is mounted to your engine guard. The 2 holes are there so that you are able to flip the bracket for mounting on the right or left side. Neither bracket is left or right specific. Common sense will dictate that the set screw would go into the bottom hole so that it makes contact with the square cornered end of the foot peg when it is in the lowered position. Placing it in the upper hole would cause it to come into contact with the rounded corner of the foot peg, causing intereference with the pivoting of the peg. Hope this helps and that I didn't confuse you.

I was waiting for someone to say "It sounds to me like you have a screw loose."
