had a similar occurence doing 75 down the freeway in PA, and i see a little cluster of deer on the side of the road, just then one decided to make a jail break and darted across the road. Just about enough time to slow down and then check my mirror to make sure the 6 bikes behind me were paying attention too. It will definately get your attention quickly!

Good to hear all turned out okay. Timing really is everything - its a good thing you look back when you did. A while back there was a posting on here of a rider that hit a deer - the pictures told the story, the damage to both the rider and bike was unbelievable.
