Out with a group of 20 working on the Million Mile tally today. I was riding sweep just as a rider who broke from the group to find a bathroom was catching up to us. I just looked in the mirror to see him setting up to pass me and get back into formation. Doin about 65 mph and when I looked back at the road, that all too familiar blur of brown was moving quickly from the right. Just enough time to touch the brakes (that's all that was needed to avoid a collision) and the blur passed maybe 5 feet in front of me. I was lucky that I wasn't one second faster or a second slower on the brakes. The deer was lucky it wasn't one second slower. The other rider was lucky he was a second slower in passing me. If any one of the seconds didn't exist, there would have been a collision. All the other rider could muster as he passed me was a thumbs-up. Checked the front fender for fur at the next stop right after checking the shorts .

Been there done that a few times my-self. It just gets to close for comfort sometimes. I took a woman for a ride Saturday Night, and I was going in the area of where I knew I could run into deer, just getting into the loop, right out of no where here comes one across the road.
One thing to remember folks, if you see one come accorss the road, 9 out of 10 times there are more of them right behind the first one. Just a good thing to keep in mind. Just dont keep your eye on the first one, watch for the rest of them.
I don't know which is the most dangerous, deer or people talking on cell phones. Now if all of the deer start talking and texting on cell phones, it will truly be murder around this part of the country. ----- Anyway, glad you had GOOD TIMEING and are safe!
Why did the deer cross the road? To scare the chit outta me! Had to get on the binders pretty hard last night to miss one doing 360's on the yellow line. Guess it couldn't decide if it wanted to eat grass or ride biotch with me.
