Ok guys I am beating the hell out of the new XXD and it is by no suprise working very well. The XXD will not fit inside the Batwing Fairing it is a small amp but it is still to big for the Glides and Classics. It does fit the road glides, so you roadies have an alternative to the mini.
Comparing the XXD to the Mini, overall a little larger foot print not as much adjustability as the mini and not quite as efficient, but with all that said it is a excellent little amplifier and gets the job done with ease. It is an excellent choice if the mini is not in your budget.
To install the XXD a high to low converter must be used as it does not have a high level input.
Adjusting and tuning the XXD is easier than the mini, you have your same output settings high full and low, 1 gain adjustment instead of 2 and a your bass boost adjustment is set with a switch unlike the mini where you can adjust it via a pot from 0 to +15.
The sound from the XXD is clean and crisp, at highway speeds here in OK, it is loud and clear, no trouble hearing the music running 80+ with a short windshield. The detail in the music from the XXD is not as good as the mini, but will get better with time as the technology gets better.
On the bench the XXD did pull a little more juice than the mini but not enough to cause any concern on average where the mini was playing and pulling 2 amps the XXD was pulling 3 amps.
I am not very good at wrighting reviews, if you would like more information you guys know how to get ahold of me.
Remember this is all compared to the 125.2 mini. Digital amps are much more efficient than your Class A/B amplifiers. The mini was done with the bikes in mind and is the most efficient on the market. Comparing the XXD to the PDX The XXD would be my choice for digital amp.
