Cool Replacing Slip-on Mufflers....

No such thing as a dumb question???

I ordered a new muffler. Aside from a bracket and two bolts and a clamp are there any tricks or problems I might not be aware of? Is the old muffler going to be a problem to remove? Thanks....

lots of wd40 might be needed at the slip joint, last time I did that one slipon came off with no issues, other side was lots of WD40 and stiff twisting persuasion..when putting new ones on, make sure area is clean of oil/fingerprints/etc. before firing it up

Why waste good cold beer by pouring it on your muffler?!

Thanks all!! Can't believe the great customer support from CFR mufflers. I damaged it and they said send it back and we'll replace it or fix yours ... told them I was on the road traveling and would have to jerry-rig the muffler to continue... they FedXed one to me at no charge. Unbelievable!! Got the muffler today late. Should be on the road tomorrow. How's that for customer support...

Retorque after you get them hot. I had to tighten mine about 3-4 times before they held their torque.

When installing a muffler I always use anti-sieze compound on the slip joint. This reduces or eliminates rust making it easier to remove later and helps to seal the joint.
