Harley Switching Over?

Sounds like back in the mid 90's when it was rare and cool to see a Harley.. I waited 18 months for my Sportster after being put on a list and giving a $500 deposit.. People were buying them and turning around and selling them for way more to the people who didn't want to wait.. Hell, people were selling their places in line too.. Anyone else hafta go through that or was it regional?
