i upgraded to the 9" after the first night on my new sg. Don't care what the nay-sayers conjecture. I still get a LOT of turbulance. Not trying to stir a debate but when I got to Oklahoma I pulled the Mushroom off and the problem went away.
"Helmetless" is a big deal also - I get buffeting that makes my head feel like it's in a paint mixer with a helmet on.
Pity, because for the most part, I'd rather go ahead and wear the thing.
But when it's off, the buffeting is nothing. I can deal with my glasses bouncing a little (just throw a headband on and that's taken care of). I can't deal with my brains being battered by the inside of my own skull for more than 30 or 40 miles.
5'11", stock seat, stock screen, the wind hits me right in the eyes, over 40 mph I cannot read road signs.. I put on the fork mounted air baffle which IMO made it worse.. Waiting delivery of a long ride 8" screen.. Hopefully this will make the wind hit me anywhere except the eyes..
I lowered my shocks 1 1/2" and changed to a Danny Grey Butt Crack Solo 2 1/2" lower and back 2" and the 3 1/2" Klock Werks Sheild No Problem for me at any speed ..
