Default Radio help

Hey guys,
Wow what a great site, it has really helped me out. Lots of great advise. My stereo on my '97 Ultra has quit. I have checked all the fuses and they are fine. It started by just losing power occasionally, now I have none at all. I'm not very good at tracing shorts, I was hoping there was a majic fix?
Thanks

In generall, it could be several things. Either the 12v power is not getting to the unit, or the ground connection for the unit could be bad (corroded) , broken wire , broken connector. I do not know if that unit has an internal power supply (kind of doubt it) but there is probably a voltage reducing circuit. Before you pull it out check for voltage as close to the unit as you can...then the ground. After that it is a pull it out, open it up and do the same plus !! If that helps you out any ??

as for the majic fix... run another hot lead to the unit...and see what you get.

Do you wash & rinse around the radio or inside of the windshield? Mine quits until it gets dried out, didnt have that problem when I quit washing in those areas until the bad rainstorm I just rode in. Now it is out agian but am sure once it dries out will start working again. Good luck
