Do any of you guys have an 09 with a Sundowner and this backrest:
Comfort Stitch Style Rider Backrest Kit
Add back support for long-haul riding comfort. Contoured backrest pad is shaped to provide full lower back support without pushing the rider forward, and the slim profile offers the passenger a few more inches of room. An adjustable support bracket with four mounting locations accommodates different seats and riding positions. The backrest pad angle can be adjusted for maximum comfort.
52572-09A
Fits '88-later Touring models (except FLHTCUTG) equipped with one-piece slotted seat. Installation requires separate purchase of model-specific Rider Backrest Hardware Kit.
MSRP US $189.95
I am curious if you see the backrest metal supports or is it hidden by the leather piece. Just trying to make sure before I order?
Yes, the supports will be hidden by leather piece. I just installed #52583-09A with my stock Road King seat and the supports are covered and then some. Your Sundowner has a lot more padding, you will be fine and you're going to love that backrest....I don't know how I rode without one :-) You will have 4 adjustment holes on the fender bracket (I'm 6 ft tall 32 inseam and I use the 2nd one), you will also have a adjustment behind the backrest that takes a 3/16 allen wrench (very adjustable)to adjust the lean of the pad, it also flips forward to let passenger on/off
