Have a group of about 8 close and loyal friends, enjoy riding day rides in our group. The last few years me and one of my friends have done a couple of 1500+ mile trips with the only destination being North, South, East or West. This could only be done with 1 or 2 people without problems.
Whoever said - "I like to ride alone. Sometimes it is the only time you can truly get some peace from the hectic lifestyle that we all seem to lead" - was right on the money.
There is nothing more magical than waking up before the world and drifting through the cold morning air... just taking it all in.
I ride alone.... (echo George Thoroghgood 'I Drink Alone' blues riff) most of the time. That way I only have to argue with the voices in my own head instead of the other riders.
I'm planning a 10 day trip right now... not sure where I'll end up. Maybe the Santa Fe area or Sturgis. I thought I was the only one. Others don't understand it, but it is a lot of fun riding from sun up to sun down.
solo...but meeting up w/4 other dudes that we met at the 105. little surgis in KY this weekend...bout a 7hr ride for myself...gonna be great...ride by myself...own pace...meet up w/a bunch of buds...party for a couple of days...ride back solo...
Put almost 60k on my 2 bikes in just under 4 years.... 90% of that solo or with the wife on the back... Large group rides are fun OCCASIONALY or during a PGR mission, 1 or 2 other Bikes make it fun... but solo and meeting folks on the road...thats where it's at....
Riding alone has its good points but it can get a bit boring at night on long trips. Nothing beats hanging around a campfire or a hotel at night after a day's riding with a bunch of buddies telling tall tales.
