Default J&M Headsets

I and a few friends bought new headsets for our helmets at the J&M tent at Oklahoma City,HOG rally. They sounded really good sitting still, $190.00 for each helmet. After leaving the rally and using the headset, the sound is real tinny with little adjustment. After coming home and getting the wife on the back with her helmet and headset on. I found that I could not adjust the vox so that the wind would not break open the mic and still be able to talk to my wife on intercom. I would have to scream at the mic to break it open. Please don't tell me I don't have it adjusted right. Over 100,000 miles using intercom, CB and radio. One of my friends called J&M and they said NO REFUNDS. Please beware if you are thinking of changing. I put the old one back in and it's 10 times more quality. Has anyone else had success getting refunds from J&M?

Never wanted a refund, but I had a bad cord from them and it was under warranty and I asked if they would send me a new one before I sent the bad one back, and they said no.... It was only a 39 dollar cord, so it was not like I could rob them blind. So I waited til winter and sent it in, and about a week later they sent me the new one... It worked if bent right, so thats why I did not want to send it back.
I have been happy with my J&M's, or I just don't know any better

If you are critical of J & M's products on this board, get ready to get flamed.... I tried the J & M speakers for the Ultra (straight out replacement) and when I posted that I wasn't happy with them, J & M (John specifically) responded unfavorably -- to say the least. I also wanted to return the speakers, but once installed -- that was no longer an option.

Not having learned my lesson, I also tried the shorty antennas from J & M. Big mistake. They cut down my transmission and reception distance to about 1/2. But it must have been my imagination, so says J & M, as they had done testing on their antennas and didn't have such result. But again, no return -- no replacement. I've since sworn off J & M.

However, after posting honest, straightforward feedback, I got flamed here on the board. Seems that J & M doesn't like people who are potential customers to know actual experiences of other customers.

I believe in supporting other members here on the forum, and have had generally good results -- especially in the customer service side of the transaction. But I cannot say that about all vendors here.

Sorry for your frustration, but I feel your pain.

I don't knock anyone for a difference of opinion. But there may be several reasons the products didn't work on your ride. Also, many stores have the policy that electrical items are not returnable after use. A lot of them don't take returns even after purchase.

The CB might have reduced the transmission range due to tuning. I was a Radio Tech from 1973. If you don't tune the antenna, it usually does not perform well. Did you have the radio tuned? CB is NOT a "Plug N Play" set up.

I've had very good service with J&M product. Make sure the spearkers are centered on the ear. If they are only a small distance uncenterd it makes a huge differnece. If its a chord issue they will work with you. Give them a shot at making it good. I agree with the above that they have always been good at making good on defective items. Sorry to hear you may have gotten one of those.
