Default Scala Q2 User Comments Needed

Scala Q2 users how do you like it sound quality, battery life, how close do you have to get for the units to reconnect after losing the connection due to terrain or distance? Thanks in advance for your comments.

My 2nd set is on my passenger so never used it bike to bike. One thing I've noticed is the passenger gets a lot more wind than I do so her mic is easily activated by the wind. Works great for phone calls even at 70 mph.

+1 on the passenger mic activated by the wind. I'm going to look around for a bigger/denser windsock to see if i can resolve the problem. It's not terrible but can get a little annoying once in a while. Other than that, I really like the system. Occasionally it's a little difficult to hear with the wind noise at 70mph but not always. We had a couple of long days last week and got 8-10 hrs of talk time. We lost battery after about 11 hrs but we would turn the units off when we got off the bike for stops and meals. It was kinda boring when the batteries went dead and we couldn't talk anymore. I find this very acceptable for such small units. Like BDP, I haven't used them in a bike-to-bike situation so I can't help there.

Love our Scala Q2s! As for the passenger wind noise, I put clear tape over the forward facing portion of our mikes, and that takes a lot of the windnoise out. Used them on our trip to FL this week and got 7+ hrs talk time out of the batteries.

That seals the deal, I was thinking about doing the same thing with the tape, just didn't remember if the mic was 2 sided or not. Did you tape both mics or just the passenger.

My buddy and I both have a set of them, and both of ours are constantly getting activated by the wind. once you turn disable the vox the wind turns it back on. I wont connect with him any longer because I cant stand listening somebody else the entire ride, (breathing, mumbling, radio etc.) the mic pics it all up.

I am going to try the tape thing too. The wind answers my phone calls when they come in too.

Thanks for the comments. The fiancee and I both ride. She has her own Sportster and we ride every weekend usually 100 miles or more. We are planning a 7-10 route 66 day trip next spring. We want communite for safety and to talk about the trip as we are traveling. That's why I am curious about the disconnect and reconnect issue as terrain, traffic or whatever causes the units to lose synch and disconnect. After the units disconnect will they reconnect once they come back within range on their own?

Buddy and i took them on a trip and they were great bike to bike. We both ride with full-face helmets so wind wasnt an issue. They connect over a pretty long distance, several hundred yards in the flat desert. They hook up whenever they are in range.

Havent worked as well going through my zumo with the phone, but from what i'm reading, that's a zumo issue.

I have a set for the wife and I. She is on a RK me on an Ultra. Yes there is some wind noise from bike to bike but its not as bad as ppl are making it out to be. The speakers sound a bit hollow. However We really like them. Living in B.C. Canada we have alot of deer on the roads and it is nice to have that little extra warning that we can give each other. We don't wear the all the time ( both have second set of helmets ). But we are getting ready for our vacation road trip ( southern Utah ) and I wouldn't leave home without them

I've been doing alittle research on this topic too. Collett Communicators is suppose to have a 900mHZ one that is suppose to be clearer and longer distance. Don't have any first hand knowledge of there units though.
