I too leave in neutral on level grd and when on a slope, also in neutral, but I carefully lay the bike down on it's side! Truthfully, I had'nt given it alot of thought, but it makes sense to leave in gear just as one would do a manuel truck.

Being from WVa, I always put it in gear... old habits are hard to break. Anytime one of my buds ride my scoot, I always caution them it is in gear... they always look at me funny... as if to say "Why"?
