I don't need to lower my bike, I have the opposite problem. But I would recommend that you make sure the bike fits you, and is comfortable and safe to ride before adding the luggage rack.
If you can't control the bike by putting your feet down when stopping, then you may need to lower it. If you need just a bit extra, you might look at a seat mod, such as Mean City Cycles, or a HD Reach seat. If you've already done that, then lowering it might be your best bet.
I also recommend making sure you have your seat position figured out before changing the bars. Some seats can change your position enough that you also need to adjust your bars.
I guess I should have been clearer. I would lower purely for looks...I am 6'1"+ and have no prob with seat height. Just liked the look of the SG stance...was thinking it'd be good for the RK.
