Do You Remember?
Me and my buddy went to sturgis from Florida in 2001. I had a Dyna and used to kid him about his Ultra. After our 5,000 mile trip I saw the light. Bagger for life now.
It was 1968 I rode a beautiful total restoration 1957 harley rigid frame. With that big ol' saddle seat I think it had a softer ride than my current Harley. It was no where near as fast as others, but I fell in love with Harleys at that moment, there's something about them!
I never ever wanted a bagger. Then for a couple of years in Sturgis I would see black EG's with the short black shield and no tourpak, man did they look sharp. Then the SG came out. Absolutely love my SG!!
When I was 6 years old. The man next door had a Harley Big, Heavy, lots of chrome & Leather. I always thought it had tires as big as a car. Well ya know I was 6! A few years ago I photographed his sons wedding and had a chance ask him about the bike. His eyes lit up and he told me it was a 1951" Full Dresser" and that He loved that bike. He is now in his 80s. So now I have a 2004 RKC with lots of extras. I need stop by and show him and thank him for what an influence he was to me.
Growing up my parents had a cabin near Cheyenne Crossing, west of Deadwood,SD. Every summer we would spend a couple weeks there. Some years it was during bike week and I wanted a HD from that point on. In 1985 I bought a new 1985 FXSB and drove to Sturgis and stayed in our cabin. Been back 4 times since then, even spent my honeymoon there 4 years ago. My wife bought me a 2009 FLHTCU for my retirement present and we are headed to Sturgis next week. Sorry to say my parents sold the cabin in the 90's
