just bought an 08 road glide. i've got the stock 16" and an aftermarket 8" windscreen. both are useless. the stock screen is right in the middle of my vision and is very distracting and the 8" puts the wind right in my face.
curious what most of you are using. Thanks.
Right now I have the HD extended windshield (do not remember how much taller than stock). With the seat I have on my RG it is still a bit short. I am interested in a Clearview windshield. I think they are going to be at the Black Hills Rally. It is getting expensive buying accessories and find out they do not work for me. I have a klockwerks windshield in the basement sitting right next to the stock one (sigh). Hopefully, I can see what the Clearview will be like on my RG at the Rally.
The best out there is Clearview....hands down.
I went with the Med. +1.5 over stock height, I'm sitting on a Ultra seat
and I'm looking over by 3".
Could of gone with the +2", but I'm happy. No wind buffeting....even with
my helmet visor up I get no shakky glasses blur.
I just bought a RG too. Never tried the stock shield though. Had the 7" contured wind deflecter put on it before delivery. (the same size as the SE RG) I must say, I LOVE the look of it. Yes, wind in my face but none on my chest. For me, the wind in my face is fine since I wear a full face helmet most of the time. Can't beat the look of the RG with that low black wind deflecter.
Im 6'2" with a badlander seat and these shields:
8" black Klockwerks flare- best looking
12" tinted KW flare- great looking, able to ride with ballcap on fwd.
original 02 tall shield- saving for long trips, better to hear music
short HD clear- useless
I'm 5' 10" I run a stock seat. The edge of the stock shield cut right across my field of vision.
Clearview GT short is perfect for me. Nice protection no buffeting and I can see where I'm going.
Currently running a dark smoked 10" from bikersdelight......deflects wind up and over, and can hear the toonz really clear.
I used to run a blacked out, slammed down 6" shield that I really liked the
looks of......more wind to the face, couldn't hear the toonz nearly as clear,
and my wife took a beating with the wind behind me........and leaving her at home WAS NOT an option.
I am 5'8" and am running with a 15" Cee Bailey Euro and am very happy with it. Previous to that had the tall (18") HD shield - didn't like looking through it and a 12" Klock Werks - a little too much wind noise for my liking. I switch between a Mustang One Piece Touring seat and a HD Low-Profile seat and the Cee Bailey works for both seats.
