Default NOOB GPS question

Well.

I've got an Ultra, and I like to crank my music while riding.

I've got the chance to pick up a Garmin Quest II for less than $200, brand-new. I've seen them & used them in my buddy's truck. I have never used one on a bike.

Mounting, etc, no problem. My question is - how user-friendly would it be? Is there an interface for voice commands to feed through my stereo, or am I screwed? Would I only be able to use it by looking at the screen? Or, is there a headphone setup or something.

Anyone who know, thanks in advance for the advice. In a perfect world, I'd like it to interrupt/override the music, and issue the voice commands through my bike's speakers.

I have a Garmin Quest on my Ultra. I bought mine from a Harley dealer and used the fairing mounting. It has an 8mm output on the side and I plug it into the acc port on the radio. I can hear through the headset (rarely use that) or the bike speakers. I just have to remember to switch the radio to acc when I need directions.

So how do you connect the two? Is it a hard-wired connection at the rear of the stereo deck (under the fairing), or does it plug into the mp3 jack?

to the MP3 jack, and then you set the radio to AUX and you can get the spoken directions..

NOTE: you CAN NOT get the spoken directions AND music at the same time, Unless you have a gps with built in MP3 player such as the Garmin Zumo.

sorta looks like it might be another distraction. i have no experience with a gps. nor abs on a motorcycle other than one bmw r1200c i owned long enough to know i didn't like abs. nor have i had a bike with an airbag. i guess that's why i ride a harley rather than a leadwing. back to basics for me. i can still read a map, but getting lost sometimes can end up making an otherwise boring ride, a great ride.

I don't have a Quest but do have a Garmin 2720.

If you have a plug to connect to radio on your GPS? Go to Radio Shack and get a cheap head set to plug into that connection. GPS is in mono (mine is anyway) so only have one side will works, cut the other one off. Now you only have one ear bud to stick in your helmet or ear. You will only hear it when giving directions. May not be the cleanest but works great.
