I can totally relate... I love firing up the engine, after changing the oil, and listening to that familiar heartbeat as the engine comes back to life once again. It always makes me smile!! For me, it's a very personal experience to spend this quality time with my "baby", making sure "she" stays healthy.

I"m about to knock out the 10K service on my '09 FLHX myself. I'm a mechanical guy and am looking forward to it. Is there anything I might want to pay particular attention during this service? I've been using Harley Syn3 but I will be changing over to Redline 20/50 in the engine, heavey schock in the tranny, and redline vtwin in the primary... Just looking for "problem" areas I may want to pay attention to based on others' experiences. Thanks in advance...

big sky, yes, i agree with you about when everything is right with your harley, everything seems just sorta right with the world. i enjoy spending quality time with my streetglide. a thermos of steaming hot folgers columbian, my dog out helping me do the maintenance work on my harley. get this, a week after i bought my 08 sg, i told the salesman who's become a good friend to come out in the lot to see what i'd done on my harley. i told him that i was bored last nite and cut my nipples off. he got a freaked out look on his face, he already thought i was sorta weird, but when i showed him my tires he understood. i had taken nail clippers and cut off all the little mold nipples off of the new tires, you know all the little rubber cactus spikes, whiskers on the sidewalls?. i laffed my *** off though.

Yes, Love that feeling of accomplishment!! Had the Ultra on the lift for the last few weeks to prep for the west coast/ Sturgis trip. New tires, brake service, lube and adjust cables, air filter, various gaskets, one grommet, assorted cable ties, fresh service in all three holes. Wash and wax front to back, top to bottom. Leaving the 29th or 30th for Sturgis. Be there 10 days, then on to the west coast, Yosemite, and maybe Oregon. Big Sky, I'll look for you at the convention center on Saturday. Demo rides and checking out the new stuff. Have fun and ride safe. See you all there.

I sure do! I'm planning the Jackson Hole WY, Tetons, Yellowstone, RedLodge, MT, Bear Tooth Pass, Cody WY, Devils Tower, DeadWood, Spearfish, Sturgis, Rapid City....and of course Wall Drug. Then up north into Canada for a little cruise, perhaps over to Calgary, and back down through Northern MT. Looks like about 3200 miles. Want to join me?
