my streetglide needed a seat, cause the stock seat on the streetglides, like the windshield look great on the showroom floor. but in the real world, both sorta suck.. unless you're 5'4" tall, then i guess they might work. i put an 09 roadglide seat on my 08 streetglide, and couldn't be happier. got it from a forum member, and no miles on it. for cheap in the classifieds section in the forum. best mod i've made so far. i'm tall at 6'4" so being taller in the saddle wasn't an issue for me. the new hammock seat, hmm. from what i understand, another gimmick. i could be wrong, but it looks like a pretty cheezy design. your bike, your money, your decision. good luck.
I looked at the add for the seat from HD - I don't agree it would work for a short rider - infact I feel just opposite...
If you are close enough to Hollister - Nothing beats the 'ride in app' at Corbin.. you arrive about 8am - and meet with the builder - THEN and THAT DAY they build a seat to fit YOUR body... during the process, you go on several test rides try the feel of the seat build... each time you return - the seat is tweaked to fit YOU and only after YOU say 'that is perfect' The seat is covered and off you go...
I have had this done on the past three HD's I have owned - the last/current was bought in 04 and we have ridden it all over the western states and coast to coast - up to 22 days in the saddle and even after the 22 days straight - we both felt fine...
and I am a short rider 5'6"...
Corbin is a love it or hate it seat - lots of opinions here... For me I would NOT ride on anything else - However, I would only do the ride in app - so it fits ME...
If you have $500 to play with... give the HD seat a try - only way you will know if it works for you... take a multi day ride
I got one and I'm happy with it. I just got back from a road trip and it helped. One of the reasons I bought it was the dealer said I could bring it back if I didn't like it and they had 20% off sale.
