Seat was changed to a Sundowner and footboards are extended and the bike is transformed in the comfort zone that is!
Thing is although my choice of seat is a personal one, (also based on the majority of members chosing that seat) why do HD sell machines with a seat that is so uncomfortable when they can at least make something near to what most people end up buying? Oh well at least we have a great choice in accessories, now where's my list!
Hey Bikehunter. ain't it cool how performing just a small modification (or two...) can transform the bike by so much? That's one of the things I like best about Harleys!!
I don't know why the stock seats are so uncomfortable, although there is so much variety among after-market seats, that I think it wouldn't matter what they would install as an OEM seat, everyone would switch it out anyways.
By the way... you should post some pics of your ride. :-)
HD sells bikes with bad seats for one reason, sell more seats. I have a Sundowner on my RC. The dealer made a $325.00 sale that just wouldn't have happened if the bike came with a good seat. 78 miles total on the stock seat and I had to about give it away at a swap meet to get rid of it.
I think pwp is correct. Who wants to leave a Harley stock? If it was perfect, and to me it is more nearly perfect than any other motorcycle, I would still want to individualize it. Always have.
Actually my stock seat is pretty comfortable and a good looking seat but I still bought a Corbin solo for a different look. Naturally when I got the solo I also wanted a matching passenger pillion and rider's backrest. And on and on. Will it never end.

Bikehunter,
Now try an extended heel shifter lever, it also makes a huge difference in comfort, since you can use the whole floorboard to move your foot around, instead of having the heel shifter restrict you. The stock toe shifter lever works fine with an extended heel shifter lever.
