I bought a set of 9 spoke chrome wheel from a exchange company. When the dealer tried to install the bearings the wheel cracked. The inside of the bearing hole is also chromed. I am thinking this should not be. Being the bearing is a pressed in bearing I am thinking the chroming is making it to tight. Has anyone bought chrome wheels, and has the bearing hole been chrome?. Needless to say I am very unhappy, after all this I had to have my old wheels put back on. Thanks
I had my stock street glide rims chromed and would never do it again. I didn't have that problem but i did have a problem and i didn't like the hassle i had to go through to get the problem taken care of.if i decide to get different rims for my 09 i will buy aftermarket. And spend the extra money.
You are right, There shouldnt be any chrome in the bearing hole. Send them back, get a set from someone who knows what they are doing. Dont give up, They look great! Good luck!
I did the exchange thru Impress Plating and Polishing and they are absolutely perfect. They come with the new bearings in place already. The cost was cheap compared to others I have seen and the service was excellent. I also did the exchange on my forks and couldn't be happier with those also.
I sent my wheels to Impress Plating & Polishing. They plugged the bearing holes. A great job, a great warranty, and a fair price. Could not be happier.

i bought the 9 spoke harley wheels, from harley, and am very happy indeed. it may be cheaper etc to have someone like chrome masters chrome the road king wheels, but it was far less hassle to go to the parts counter and get the wheel, bearings, etc. they sure do look sweet. lots of custom wheel makers out there, but the price for pm's etc, would be beyond what i was willing to pay for wheels. no issues with the harley wheels, other than now i got something else i gotta polish and keep clean on my streetglide.
