Hey, HDrider, that's a great offer! I gather this is different to the 'stock' pedal fitted to my RK? Were they fitted to fix this problem, do you know? I wonder if it would fit my '97? I bet it will...what year was the bike it came off? If you would like to PM me to discuss a deal, my email is albion@langtoft.net. Thanks!

I gather from Big E78 that the lever is on a spline shaft? Okay, I'll probs try that first and let you know how I get on. Those billet brake and shifter parts look the business! I've kept the bike factory original so far, but I'm not going to let that affect my riding safety or enjoyment. They would make a superb addition. Thanks for everyone's input - I have more confidence to get the spanners out now. Ciao!
Yup, on a spline. Shifter levers are too.

Here is my solution to the problem, I put a grip sticker on the chrome to protect it from scratches. Besides the floorboards, this gives me three different positions and the brake doesn't bother me because I rarely put my feet flat on the floorboards.

position1

Position2

Position3

Right, Got the shopping done and the grass cut, so tomorrow I get to play out! Needless to say today was sunny and warm, and tomorrow is forecast to rain, but really it's a tinkering and cleaning day so...the plan is to check out everyone's brake pedal suggestions and take some pictures. I'll post tomorrow evening to let you know how I get on! Thanks to everyone for your pictures and suggestions...watch this space! Ciao.

Default Brake pedal - the saga continues

Okay, here are some pics of my brake pedal...and the rust spots from a winter lay-over. Sigh. Great the way they salt the roads in England...one thing at a time! I guess this is the standard pedal/position for a '97 RK? If so I can well understand why after-market improvements exist! I've been analysing this Youtube video of this guy doing a slalom on a RK and his brake pedal is totally different. I think I've attached it; if not, I'll post the url later.I'm maybe overplaying this, but I read everywhere that the tight turns need good clutch/rear brake control. If that's true then I need to do something about mine! Part of the problem is my height. At 6'4" in boots I'm sitting right over the footboards, so my feet have no natural 'rake' - my shins are at 90 degrees to the boards. It seems that the pedal expender not only moves the pedal forwards, but puts the pedal at a different angle as well...

Looking forward to your comments! Thanks. Now, anyone got a shipping crate of ACF50...make that a drive through tank? Ciao!

nhbiker, you complained about feeling bowlegged? check with soos, i think he's a sponsor in here. floorboard extenders which will extend your floorboards out 3/4" or 1". i didn't know about his product when i installed the kuryakyn product which brought my floorboards out 3/4", and it made an amazing difference. feels good to get the knees away from the motor and air cleaner, tank, etc. now my knees are in the breeze, and if i had a sidecar, my dog nick, could get his fleas in the breeze. check with harleygoodies. they're a sponsor in here. no more bowlegged riding is great.
