Default Sturgis Weather???

Rollin' outta here later this week for Sturgis.
Yes...first trip there for me.
Was wondering what kind of "cold weather" clothing I should consider packing?

Any tips, guys?

Thanks!

What ever you can pack, do it. Never can have too much. Wear layers. Can always take off a layer when it's warm, but will cool off if you're on the road at night. Also, rain gear. Always at least one rain day.

I am going my first time this year too. But I am riding with my brother who has been before.

He says it is mostly warm and can even be really hot at times, but at night the temps can drop a bit (low 50's usually) so chaps, leather jacket, neck warmer, full fingered gloves, etc. are all pretty nice to have if you will be riding around in the evenings.

They ran into some random rain and hail storms while there as well.

Ride safe.

When I went out in '04 it was 70 days and 50 nights. Unusual I'm told.
In '06 it was 105 days and 80 nights. Bring everything ya got.

Was out there last weekend. 80-90 for highs 50-60 for the lows. Coldest in the hills. We were in leather chaps and coats in the hills at night. At night the cold didn't bother me it was just seeing some of those deer. If your coming from the east watch out for grasshoppers from murdo on to rapid city. They were a plenty

Ride safe

Arrow chilly after dark

I bought one of those plug-in heated jacket liners, they're great. I can leave about 3 layers of stuff at home. Rain gear is a must though. Every time we ride through Hill City it pours on us.

ever considered watching the weather channel? just saying, ya know? also there is usually a wal mart nearby where you can get a sweatshirt if needed for what, five bux or so? i always pack light. unless it's a blizzard in february, then i have enough sense to stay home. just now i'm envisioning sturgis in february, that would sorta suck. ride safe, and have fun at the event.

Hot, cold, dry, wet. Usually warm to hot during the day unless it rains or snows. Cool in the evening if riding. Cold in the evening if raining while riding. You will need tee shirts, jeans, leather jacket, leather chaps or pants, gloves, and rain gear. And of course, good boots. Take a helmet if you will be passing through Nebraska.

I worked in Custer for the NPS for 4 years. Weather can change in a heartbeat in the hills, always have a sweatshirt in the bag and a rainsuit. Nite riding is, well, can be scary. Deer are everywhere at sundown and daylight, ride with alot of caution. I rode up in June and got there at noon and it was 38 degrees. Rideing during the rally is crowded but the views on main on a hot afternoon are priceless...enjoy..
