i have one on my chopper had for 5 years no issues with it. as long as you have all the guards in place nothing will get in it. bad thing it is very noisy.
I had one on my bobber. No problems. They are noisy. I wouldn't want it if I was going to ride my tour bike more than across town. I would say you would need to do lots of other things to make it look cool. Otherwise it would look out of place.
Okay, new guy here! I've read these posts and heres the deal....I have the billet4u open primary on my 06 strtglde!its been on my bike for over a year now about 3000 miles(young kids at home, wife has me on a short leash) with no problems at all.Its flawless, looks great and it is great workmanship rite out of the box...it lightens the bike some due to no fluids but not that thats a big deal! It is a little noisier but it sounds and looks awsome!Out of countless # of custom baggers it sets mine apart from the others!!!you do lose some turning clearance to the left being that it is a 3" belt and my bike is lowered and raked 3 degrees in the neck and it pushes the left side floorboard out.The kit comes with everything you need including a new primo clutch!the chrome is also flawless!!it is pricey but like others have said you get what you pay for!
I say go for it, you won't regret it unless you are into tight twistie roads!
I am not to computer savy, so I will try and get my wife to post some pics for you.
My bike was on the cover of AMERICAN iRON SEPT 2007 sturgis edition but I did not have the open primary on at the time of the photo shoot!
Did it for a year or so. Very noisy and does require maintenance if you ride them a lot. In S. FLA we use our bikes as transportation and not a novelty. went back to an enclosed unit. This photo was taken coming back from the strip at Cafe 27 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Do your homework and you can use a FXR belt/unit if your bike is not the brand new re-designed primary. Easy fabrication if you are handy.
