adjusting drive belt `09 FLTR
The axle has eccentric washers making this easy. I just removed both bags and right slip on muffler, loosened axle nut put wrench from tool kit on left nut and tapped it with hammer to get about 3/8`s in. play with about 10 lbs. force. I chose to do this on a saturday morning and the H.D. dealer didn`t have a service manual or tension tool to sell me. So I practiced lifting a gallon jug full of water for the calibrated force on the belt. After riding a hundred miles or so saturday I wanted to double check my work. Sunday morning I put it up on a jack and found the tightest spot again, let it down and took off left saddle bag and left cover. I used some string and a fish scale and applied 10 lbs. force on belt measured 3/8 in. play and I`m confident it`s good to go. Got the fish scale at Wallmart and it reads 8.5 lbs. for a gallon jug of water which is right on the money. Couldn`t find any info on `09 belt adjusting in searches so thought this could help somebady.

Sounds like you did a good job, I guessed at mine pushing what I thought was 10 lbs with my thumb and watching the slot in the belt guard. Kinda half azzed but I don't think it very far off, always did my sportster that way
