ORIGINAL: rideon

I had a roadglide before I had two Eglides and didn't really notice much difference handling wise, but I did notice its alot more peaceful behind the batwing turbulence wise than the roadglide. I tried different heights for windshields and was never really happy, especially when those stupid wellnuts that they use to hold the windshield on would fall inside the fairing! I love my ultra and would never go back, its got the most bang for your buck IMHO.

How tall are you??

I rented a Road Glide and put about 120 miles on it in a day - highway, backroads, around town and in traffic. I've also ridden Ultras and EGlides. The RG was very stable at 90mph, and seemed to "shimmy" a bit less than a bat wing, but it was NOT dramatic. I think you'll find that most of of the people who say sharknoses are better than batwings are RG owners (naturally.)

But I bought a Street Glide. Why? Because on back roads, twisty stuff, and in traffic, I think the SG works better than the RG. It is more nimble than a RG, perhaps becase it rides a ltttle lower. To me, the SG also feels more solid than the RG, like its a more modern bike.

At slow-medium speeds, the SG outhandles the RG, IMHO. In sweepers and on interstates, I think the RG gets the edge (but not by miles.) Where do you plan on doing most of your riding? For me I'd rather have something that is nimble because 99% of my riding is local type stuff, with occasional tours.

Also, the fairing on the RG, to me, is kinda junky. The radio is in a location that makes it difficult to adjust while ridiing, and the fairing pockets are really cheaply made. That said, almost bought one.

Sometimes this is like listening to the Ford, Chevy, Mopar debates...all great in many and most everyway, but we love to argue don't we... (woops...did not mean to get it started on THAT subject...)

I now have an option with my king!!!

I can take it off just like the windshield!
Versatility !!!
I think they all handle slightly different,so why not try them all!Just make sure one ends up in the garage!!! Baggers are 220 (second to none)!

Road Glide hands down!!! My wife rides a Electra Glide Standard and I've also had a Road King. The bat wing fairing doesn't handle as well in the wind or behind trailer trucks.

We just bought our first RG. Being the wife, it wasn't my first choice. I am not fond of the shark nose, but hey, hubby puts 700 miles on it a week riding back and forth to work and he likes it....he rides it, so I got over it Who cares what the front looks like, we can't see it when we're riding is right lol! Katoomofdoom, well put my friend. I've owned a Roadglide and it was a hell of a bike. Most comfortable bike I've ever driven and I've owned my share. My riding style and needs pretty much fit yours. They'll be the occassional drive of several hundred miles and with a Chopped Tour Pak, I'll be good to go. Well put indeed. I also prefer the look of the classic batwing style fairing. I am not even going into the stupid **** wellnuts that are a pain lmao.

By the way....EG. I have spent time in the saddle of both and every other uncomfortable saddle there is. I just liked the EG styling. The RG did handle very nice. Tuff decision...glad mine is made. ALL IN ALL BAGGERS ROCK (enough said).
