Bought my 09 Road King 10 days ago. put reaper wheels and rosch pipes on it last week. Went to take it to dealer to get new seat, and i heard my pipes sounded lil different.
Then I heard a clanking noise when i was pulling out of service shop. They thought maybe it was heat shield loose, but it still was clanking.
Service just told me that they are ordering a inner shaft bearing. They will have it done by TUES. Is this something i need to worry about future problems, do i need to make sure they check other things, do i need to press for a new engine...HELP!
Sorry to hear about your problem, Its something that would **** anybody off, but don't get discouraged. Mine had problems with a tank of bad fuel and that was the only thing wrong with it, it has been absolutely reliable otherwise and it seems that the 2009 models in general have been more trouble free than other years. So get it fixed and enjoy it, keep your faith.
How many miles on your bike?? When you say inner shaft bearing do you mean the engine or primary? Regardless I wouldn't worry if you have an 09 it's obvoiusly under warranty and just maybe a bad bearing from new. Nothing to worry about you will be back on the road in not time flat!
ditto to above. Let 'em fix it, stay low key & friendly. Talk to the service manager when you go to pick it up and get an exact explanation of what was done & why. Get everything spelled out on the paperwork just in case you have troubles down the road. As hard as it is not to be pissed, your dealership didn't build the bike so try and keep them working FOR you and not bummed by you walking in the door. Time for hardball later IF it's needed.
It was probably caused by those reaper wheels. You should box them up and send them to me, you know, just to avoid future problems......seriously, I hope you don't get discouraged.....could you PM me some pics of those wheels on your ride?
