in forty some years of riding, i've never had that problem with laces. but i always cut the laces then burn the ends after tying a knot in them to where they're not huge loops either. i can see how it could get tangled, the loop in the shifter though. good point.
I recommend Double H Boots - They Have several styles of "Biker Boots" and they are MADE IN THE USA ! I wear their Engineer Style (Square toe with the Ring and Strap) Very Comfortable and the most durable boots I have ever owned !
I'll second Double H boots, most comfortable boots I have worn.
Various boot companies like Tourmaster, Sidi, Icon, etc., make a boot with no exposed laces or a velcro closure for the sides. If that fails I know guys and gals who wear cowboy boots.

I wear Chippewa cowboy boots but occassionally ride with my tennis shoes on short runs. I always repeat tie the left shoe laces until there's basically no more lace sticking out.
.................................4th time that has happened to me in the 2 weeks since I've had the bike...........................
Four times in two weeks???? .............Come on Pal, haven't you ever heard of Duct Tape?
You'd better tape them up, until you by some new boots or cut off your laces.
OK, just to clarify...I'm not a dumbass. I do double tie and this last time was the worst. The first three times, it was kind of a nuisance. Never had this issue with my Dyna. I'm chalking it up to my foot placement on the footboards. Either way, I lived to tell about it! Now help me find some goddamned boots! HAHA.
