In 2007 I finally got the bike I aways wanted. It would take something radically different and better to make me want to change. Since I'm not ready for a trike, this year isn't it.
I'm pretty excited about the Ultra Limited, really cool looking and the 103 from the factory would be quite nice. I'm also pretty pumped about the CVO SG and CVO Ultra. I bought my bikes in 09 or I'd be looking pretty hard at these. Overall, there were quite a few changes for 2010, nothing like 2009 but quite a few. It'll probably be a few years before I'm ready/allowed to upgrade either of my bikes but it's still a ton of fun to look.
But if you want to really compare apples to apples, then the true test of comparability is to look at the difference between the 09 Ultra and the 2010 Ultra. I may be wrong but the only difference I can see is the Helical cut 5th gear and some colors. But I have to admit that I havn't really looked into it that hard.
The colors are a personal thing, but I do have an opinion on the gear cut change. HD always claimed that Straight cut gear was there for a reason. They said the "whine" was normal and a byproduct of a "stronger" gear. At least that's what I was told.
Sooooooo..... Either HD was completely wrong about the superior attributes of the straight cut 5th gear, or, they have now built a bike with a weaker 5th gear to appease the biatches who complain about the noise.
My 09 FLHTCU with Redline Shockproof seems to be every bit as good and quiet as the 2010 FLHTCU. Plus they eliminated the Black Pearl color so in my mind my 09 is already a classic
Just my worthless opinion of course!!
Good point! There is really no change at all from the 09 Ultra to 2010 Ultra. If anything, the 09 might be a better bike with the straight cut gear and much better color selection.
Fuel Moto just got in a 2010 SG and here's a little bit of what Jamie has to say.
"All 2010 touring models now have a catalyst in the headpipes for all 50 states, I can already note that this headpipe is VERY hot compared to the 09. There are also heated O2 sensors which are now located in the lower collector just before the catalyst. These new sensors are not only inconvieniently placed, they are also very small at 12MM compared to the 09-earlier 18MM sensor boss."
The 09 FLHTCU is a better bike than the 2010 FLHTCU, IMHO!!

WOW, that is really saying something big coming from Jamie!!! So would this apply to all the touring models I wonder or just the ones with 2 into 1 into 2 exhaust?
I dunno. I saw a 2010 Ultra Limited at the dealer while I was getting the 5K done on my 09 ultra. Without the chrome wrap-arounds on the bags I thought it looked a bit like a street glide from the rear quarter view. Didn't have long to watch, as the thing sold an hour after they put it on the floor.
I am usually one of the WORST when it comes to wanting "newer/better" but I haven't seen anything yet that grabbed me. Think I am going to have a Stage II done this winter and just keep what I have.

Cbears. Please read my post again and see where the quotes begin and end for Jamies comments.
The sentence at the end about the 09's FLHTCU being better than the 2010 FLHTCU is MY comment, and MY opinion, NOT Jamies. Just want to be crystal clear on that!!
