Question Left Clutch lever

Hey guys and gals I was curious if anyone knew what to do about a loose clutch lever. I have a 2007 Road King and just got it 10k mile serviced the other day went about 100miles and then out of nowhere I pulled in the clutch to shift and it went in like nothing! wouldn't do a damn thing! Luckily I was about one mile away down hill to where I was going and managed to get it into neutral but the clutch lever is just loose??? It has never given me any trouble does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Has this happened to anyone else? Please let me know what you've got. Thanks again.

Check the adjuster first and see if the lock not has come loose and it's worked its way loose. After that I'd pull the lever off and see if the cable has broken. If that still doesn't help, I'd pull the derby cover and check the clutch adjustment there. With the circumstances you described I would think either the cable adjuster or adjuster on the clucth wasn't locked back down during the service.

Yep that should cover it. Sounds like the tech may not have tightened every thing down just right.

Keep us posted on the result.

And welcome

If it happened all at once I would think you have a broken cable.

Hope you contacted the dealer and let them know. You got to, especially after a major job or inspection keep the dealer responsible. If I were in cell phone reception and in the same state I would have phoned the dealer and had them tow the bike in. Then I would chew on them some for wasted time, more importantly putting you in danger.

Hey guys thanks again for all your replies. I did fix the problem it was pretty simple took off the left plate by the belt noticed the screw was loose pulled it out checked it put it back in put some lock tight on it tightened as tight as I could get it put the plate back on wiped off my prints and off I went drives like new again. Just to make sure though I did take it back to my buddies shop and they said that, that was the problem someone probably just forgot to tighten it back up. No harm no foul, thanks again. Ride safe!

So...are you saying you pulled the derby cover off and found the clutch adjustment jam nut was loose? And you lock-tighted it?

Ya I am not to familiar with all of the names but that sounds right I had to remove the left side passenger footrest take off that round plate noticed that the screw and nut was loose tightened it put some lock tight on it put the plate and stuff back on. And that was it! Then took it into where I got it serviced because then I could shift in and out of gears plus if it went out it the place was only four miles from where my bike was at they took a look at it I explained what I did they checked the clutch lever made sure there is just the right amount of give and said it looks perfect cruised it around for about 150miles just to make sure the other night no problems so I think I got it! While I was out I bought a 07 FLHR Manual I never got one with my bike and a H-D tool kit that fits in the saddle bags for those just incase situations. Thanks again for all your help. Hey does anyone know of any Motorcycle clubs in Washington state? All I see around is the Bandidos I know a few of them and they seem pretty cool but with my record don't really want to be around those kind of dudes. Let me know thanks.!

owners manual or shop manual. the owners manual may be ok to keep in the bike for some on the road reference, but a shop manual is a must, best $50 you will ever spend, then of course the parts manual will also pay for it's self too.
