Those look great! I've been considering doing the same thing, I get a little neck/shoulder pain on long rides and I think it is from reaching for the bars. Do you notice additional wind on your hands that may be uncomfortable in cold weather?

That was my problem, my neck and shoulders were killing me on long rides, this seems to have solved that. I really havent noticed much more wind on my hands to be honest.
Folks I don't mean to stir up too much **** but the definition of ape hangers are bars that are high causing the rider to adopt an ape like posture when riding. With that said, the bars on the bike in the original post are nice looking but are NOT apes. I'm an ape rider on most of my bikes and barely consider my 18" bars on my current bagger to be apes.
People on this forum have become a bit liberal with the whole ape thing. Almost as liberal as the way they use the 1% term. Apes start at a minimum of 16". The bars as shown (very nice) are barely high enough to meet the shoulders unless the rider is a midget. If in fact a little person, they can be considered apes but if not and you want to tell all your buddies and HOG brothers while sippin lattes that you have apes, buy some freakin apes and put them on!
In closing and once again, Nice bars but they fall about 6" short of being apes.
