Default How to remove a rounded-out bolt?

I rounded out one of the torx bolts while trying to install the passenger backrest mounts. I thought I'd solicit any suggestions from the board before paying a mechanic to drill it out, etc. Any ideas?

Thanks -

Drill it and use an EZ-out

you can use a dremil tool and just cut a slot on it and use a impact straight slot to work it out. I have used a dremil then just used a good screwdriver i could tap on to work one out before.

get a set of allen wrenches(hex keys) find one you can tap into rounded out hole and see if it will grip good enough to get the bolt out.

I have used the allen wrench as suggested by tlb and also the Sears bolt extraction tool posted by Casper. Both ways worked.

i have a very small pipe wrench that i've used more than once to remove bolts when there is something left of the shaft above the surface. this little thing is more of a novelty item, but it's a rigid and is like 4 or 5 inches long. it comes in handy sometimes.

With a long, thin headed punch place it on the shoulder of the torx and tap it with a hammer. It's the poor man's impact driver.
