Default Wholesale extension changes needed!

Well I went on a very long ride today, about 420 miles. I have about 3k miles on the RK now and I need to make some adjustments. I am about 6-3, and I don't mind the position of my handlebars, shifter, brake, and floorboards, but I would benefit from stretching out a bit more. Short runs are ok, but today just magnified my lack of comfort.

I noticed today while riding I got a cramp where my right leg joins my groin, my tailbone got numb, and when I sat back in the stock seat I found that my arms were strained because they were almost straight.

So I need to make some changes. I looked at Bubba's Brakes and like what they have. I looked at Kuryakyn's Burly Bar for RK(FLHT) and it looks like a nice bar, it will give me 2.5 more pull back. I normally ride solo and I would like a solo seat that I can still carry luggage for the long haul.

Here are my questions:

1. Has anyone used the Burly Bar from Kuryakyn? Did you like it? Does the MoCo have anything similar - I need more pull back?

2. Any seat suggestions? Especailly those solo seats that will accomodate luggage.

3. Should I make these changes in increments? I think it might be best, but what should I change first.

4. What about crash bar pegs?

Thanks for your time!

Seat first. The seat will be your base for your new seating position. I changed the seat on my RG and had to move the hwy bar pegs further away.

Seat helps for sure. The question is gonna be which one. Som like various HD seats, some like Corbin, some (including me) prefer Mustang, etc....

Bars will help too.

Not mentioned yet are extended length shifter(s) and brake pedal. E-ZBrake makes AWESOME "long" shifters and brake pedals. I've used them on several bikes and are now standard issue for me. www.e-zbrake.com

How about a mod that won't cost you a penny???

I was having a similar pain in my left leg. Ironically, AFTER I changed my seat. What I found was that the heel shifter peg was limiting my ability to naturally rest my left leg on the floorboard.

I removed the heel shifter, took about an hour of riding to get used to not having it, and now NO MORE PAIN!

Sundowner seat is comfy. Stock RK handlebar pullback is 9", I went to the Wild 1 Chubby 508 with 16" pullback......mucho better.

Has anybody had any experience with HD's Tallboy seat?

Bountyhunter, what kind of seat do you have on your SG?

I went online at looked at HD's reduced reach handlebar for FLH. I will get me 2.75" more bar. Anybody running that bar, it retails for about $50. I will definitely need extended reach brake and shifter.

Kuryakyn makes floor board extenders that move the boards out 3/4 or 7/8th inch.I'm 6'3" & they work real nice with my Corbin seat.Regards,Tom
