NOT Riding Tomorrow
Just went out to the garage to move my bike (07 RG), and guess what, battery completely DEAD. I was having an issue the other night with the gauge lights flickering and the volt meter would stay at 14volts until idle, than drop to 12volts. So I will be spending the day tomorrow in the garage instead of riding. I guess after 29K miles something had to give. Hope its not to bad.

I checked the system using the format giving here on the site. Battery was good, charged and checked at Advanced Auto. Hooked up the battery, started it and voltage was 14.4 volts (so far so good). Ran the engine to 3100 RPM's and voltage dropped to 4.0 volts. Made contact with a mechanic friend and he told me that he has been seeing issues with the magnets in the stater moving and losing contact (I think that how he put it). at idle it will charge, but not at higher RPM's. I took the bike to him because this is beyond my level of repair. He is going to double check the system. If this is the problem I am looking at $200 for parts. Will see what the final bill will be when done. Will post more later with updates.
