Well let's say you are riding with your budds and one of them hits a little sand and drops it the pavement tearing threw his flesh like a high speed sander not to mention all the dirt that is pushed into each wound Now how does that hot uncomfortable leather jacket you are wearing look compaired to your friends bloody T shirt. Something to think about!

I wear a Field Sheer mesh with lots of armor and padding; cost about $100; and well worth it for the protection in the Atlanta, GA area and Georgia mountains. It's a few years old, and when I replace it the new one will not have a virtually solid black back to it; go with silver or some other reflective color on your back; the black acts like a heat sink in stop and go traffic--even a mesh jacket will get hot if I am sitting in traffic.

Say what we will about the guys on the crotch rockets; the ones I see out for a real ride are in full riding gear, boots, and full face helmets--no tennis shoes, shorts, tee shirts, and novelty helmets.

I have the HD Switchback jacket. Here in So California a man can ride on the coast at 70 degrees and come over the hills into the San Joaquin Valley and it is 110.

I have ridden with the Switchback in the high 90's so far and it is comfortable as long as you are moving. The sleeves need to be open. There are a series of four adjustables snaps on each sleeve. When you stop, it gets warm. I will know more soon as summer is approaching.

I think it is a great way to ride with protection from sun, wind and road rash.
